SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — The Troy Road railroad crossing and the area immediately around it will close to vehicles and pedestrians Nov. 3-4 while the crossing is replaced, according to a town announcement.
The closure is scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday. The town said the existing crossing will be replaced with all-new material to improve safety, give motorists a smoother ride and improve rail infrastructure.
The area will be closed to "all vehicle and pedestrian traffic," the town said in the announcement on its government Facebook page.

Drivers and pedestrians who normally use the crossing will need another route during the closure.
Troy Road also appears in a November 2025 state Department of Transportation announcement about planned railroad-crossing safety improvements. That project calls for replacing faded or damaged signs and pavement markings, extending road lines across crossings to help prevent drivers from turning onto tracks, and selectively trimming vegetation to improve visibility.
The state announcement lists nine South Windsor roads, including Troy Road.
