Arrest Made in South Windsor Cigarette Heist

A man has been arrested for stealing cartons of smokes from a local gas station, police said.

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — A man has been charged for a springtime cigarette heist at a South Windsor gas station, police said.

Police on Monday arrested Javier Delgado, 42, of 193 Jefferson Street, Hartford, on a warrant. He was at
Manchester Superior Court, where he was being held on other charges, police said.

Delgado was charged with third-degree burglary, second-degree criminal mischief, third-degree larceny and related conspiracy charges, police said.

His charges stem from a May 2017 burglary at the Valero gas station located at 180 Sullivan Ave., police said.

During the burglary, a front door was smashed and cartons of cigarettes were stolen.

He had already been charged after investigators found him with more than 700 packs of cigarettes and other items that were stolen in similar burglaries in Hartford county, police said.

Investigators were able to link Delgado to the South Windsor burglary and later obtained an arrest warrant for him, police said.
