SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us. Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.

This submission comes from Josh, who nominated his friend Max, a junior at South Windsor High School.

How do you know the star local student? Friend

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
Max is the Editor-in-Chief of the South Windsor High School's student newspaper, The Bobcat Prowl. When he first took over control of the paper, it was a dead blog site. But within only a few months, Max turned the Prowl into a nationally recognized and award-winning online newspaper. Additionally, Max takes great initiative in everything he does, but it shows best in his special projects - one of which, the Letters from the Presidents project, brought him national and international attention. Everyone at our school thinks that he'll be the president or something one day, some even jokingly calling him "Mr. President." He is a straight A student who often talks about his goals and dreams, which are to become a diplomat/politician and better our world for everyone in the country and abroad. Despite all of this, Max is an incredibly humble, kind, and caring person. He is someone you can talk to and get help or advice for anything from.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?
Max has enormous willpower that he uses to accomplish anything. He can do just about anything and everything he sets his mind to, which are often tedious and difficult tasks with great rewards. He has previously gotten to national fame for writing letters to world leaders, cut sugar from his diet and lost a ton of weight, and has over 1,000 hours of community service.

Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Max!
