Evergreen Walk's Back-To-School Bash

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — Bluey, balloon art and a chance to help local students are coming to The Shops at Evergreen Walk later this month.

The South Windsor shopping center will hold its annual Back to School BASH from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, on The Green. The event is free and open to the public.

Families can expect face painting, caricature artists, glitter tattoos, a backpack keychain-making station, live entertainment and mascot visits, including Bluey. Adam Rivers of iHeartRadio will emcee the event, while WFSB is also scheduled to be on-site.

United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut will collect new school supplies during the celebration for students in the region.

The event falls during Connecticut’s Sales Tax Free Week, which runs Aug. 16 through Aug. 22. Certain clothing and footwear priced at less than $300 per item are exempt from sales tax during the week, according to the state Department of Revenue Services.

Evergreen Walk also said shoppers who spend at least $125 at its retailers on Aug. 21 and present same-day receipts can receive a $25 Whole Foods Market gift card, while supplies last.
