Small Town Economic Assistance Program and Empowering South Windsor Business Startups

South Windsor will benefit from the additional business and contributions to the tax base.

The South Windsor Community has been awarded a half million dollar Small Town Economic Assistance Program (STEAP) grant by the State of CT. This grant is earmarked for renovations to the old post office building on Sullivan Ave. I have been a strong advocate for the positive and meaningful the use of this site, since becoming a member of the Town Council.

This building has been empty for the past decade. Rather than draining our town’s resources, it will provide entrepreneurs and businesses with an opportunity to establish state-of-the art offices in a highly desirable location. Start-up enterprises, which might otherwise not have the resources to establish themselves in high rent offices, will be able to turn good ideas into good business. In turn, South Windsor will benefit from the additional business and contributions to the tax base. In addition, having this center technology ready and using it to house the town IT department will be an excellent use of resources. I am pleased that South Windsor will be moving forward in the direction of converting this all but abandoned space into a modern office building.
