South Windsor Mighty Mites defeat Simsbury 20 - 6
The South Windsor Panthers had a big win against Simsbury under the lights in front of an enthusiastic home crowd at Rye Street Park.The South Windsor Panthers got off to a great start with long runs from fullback Trevor Lussier, Halfback Hakim Montgomery and QB Michael Foran. The effort resulted in a touchdown run by Cole Higgins.
The offense continued to move the ball with great effort by the offensive line headed by Anthony Salvatore and Derek Davis with help from the tough blocking Kevin Brass, Daniel Kennedy and Connor Rankin.Two more touchdowns were added by Trevor Kniffen and with two extra points to follow, both by Ben Brochu.

The defensive unit was exceptional all day. The defensive line headed by Tony Demartino and Derek Davis put pressure on Simsbury all day. All the Panther players made big tackles led by Logan Cirelli, Sam Pines, Jacob Yustinich and Ryan Weathers who frustrated the Simsbury Raiders with their aggressive defense.The Panther game day captains were Kevin Brass, Connor Rankin and Cole Higgins.
South Windsor B team GOLD defeats Durham/Middlefield Falcons 32-0

On Sunday, October 14, the South Windsor B Gold upped their record to 5-1 with a 32-0 victory over the host Durham/Middlefield Falcons. The Panthers were very well balanced on both offense and defense, playing very well on both side of the ball. Defensively the Panthers held the Falcons to only 3 first downsOffensively the Panthers benefited from a diverse offense with five players ending up in the end zone: EJ Kelly on an 8 yard end run, Shai Harrison with a 28 yard run up the middle, Mike DaCosta on a 27 yard run, Kahil Montgomery with a 62 yard touchdown pass from Connor Race, and finally a 17 yard end run by Ankit Saini. Tyler Osit (from Matt Veretto) and Nick Kinsella (from Race) caught passes to convert extra points. Additional offensive spark was provided by the running of QB Matt Veretto, and halfbacks Jordan Giroux and Jeremiah Taylor. All of this was made possible by the offense line play of Christian Familglietti, Abhi Goyal, Eddie Cheatem, Stephen Rosenbaum, and Chris Pile.The Panthers played great defense and special teams and swarmed on many tackles and forced three turnovers. Standouts were Saini , Osit, Harrison, Montgomery (interception), Famiglietti, Connor O’Brien, Roy Clemons, Grant Willard and Edrick Cheatem. This coming weekend, (October 20th and 21st) Glastonbury and East Hartford come to Rye Street Park. The board of directors for the South Windsor Panthers has a 50 /50 raffle during each game and donates the proceeds to Breast Cancer Research.
