Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT
- Up-and-coming political science students at Eastern Connecticut State University were selected to participate in a Summer Research Institute (SRI) from May 20-24. The SRI challenged first- and second-year students to develop research proposals for projects they will carry out during the academic year. Among the participants was Griffin Cox of South Windsor. Cox's research proposal concerns the campaign rhetoric of the 2016 presidential election and how President Trump's speech compares to that of Presidents Reagan and Nixon. "How does he compare to previous galvanizing figures in conservative politics?" asked Cox.

- Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) President Laurie Leshin and Board of Trustees Chairman Jack Mollen presided over the university's 151st Commencement celebration, awarding over 850 master's and doctoral degrees at the Graduate Ceremony, held on the campus Quadrangle. Tommi LaRoche of South Windsor was awarded a master of business administration degree, and Daniel Bettigole of South Windsor was awarded a master of science degree in management.
