Auburn University, Auburn AL
- Kirsten Goodwin of South Windsor was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Goodwin was initiated at Auburn University. Goodwin is among approximately 30,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors are eligible for membership. Graduate students in the top 10 percent of the number of candidates for graduate degrees may also qualify, as do faculty, professional staff and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction.

- Junior Katie Burke of South Windsor was tabbed as a second-team All-Little East Conference pick in women’s lacrosse. Third a year ago in the conference with a team-leading 31 assists, Burke topped the LEC this year with 46 – one shy of the program record set 12 years ago by E-Club Hall of Famer Moe Deegan. She shared the team lead with 74 points (tied for third in the LEC) and was fourth on the team with 28 goals.
- A group of gifted mathematics students at Eastern Connecticut State University was inducted into Kappa Mu Epsilon (KME), the national honor society for the field of mathematics, at the end of the 2016-17 academic year. Among the inductees was Kara Noble of South Windsor, who majors in Mathematics. KME is a specialized honor society in Mathematics. It was founded in 1931 to promote the interest of mathematics among undergraduate students. Its chapters are located in colleges and universities of recognized standing which offer a strong mathematics major. Members are selected from students of mathematics and other closely related fields who have maintained standards of scholarship and who have professional merit and have attained academic distinction.
Springfield College, Springfield MA
- Springfield College senior Karen Bassilakis of South Windsor earned the Springfield College Rehabilitation and Disability Studies Department Distinguished Senior Award. Bassilakis received the honor at the recent Springfield College Academic Awards held on campus. The Distinguished Senior Awards are presented annually to graduating students who have performed consistently well in the classroom. The award recipients are chosen by their respective peers in their individual department.

- Anthony Coralli of South Windsor was among seven students and one faculty member welcomed into Pi Mu Epsilon National Honor Society on May 5, at the Western New England University chapter's annual induction ceremony. Coralli is majoring in Computer Science.
