SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — Here are some recent accomplishments of college students from South Windsor, as provided by readMedia Newswire.

Champlain College, Burlington VT

  • Josh Celentano of South Windsor has been named to the Champlain College Dean's List for the fall 2016 semester. Students on the Dean's List have achieved a grade point average of 3.5 or higher during the semester. Celentano is majoring in Creative Media.

Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT

  • Cory Derohanian of South Windsor recently completed an internship with Nobile Hinchey Private Wealth Management and CPA Squared in Glastonbury. Derohanian's major is Business Administration and Accounting. Derohanian's responsibilities included learning about the financial side of the business as well as marketing services. Gaining an understanding of what the firm does for their clients and how to retain and attract clients were valuable tools for learning how successful industry works. Derohanian was also assigned projects by upper-level management. Other tasks included marketing to wealth management clients as well as alliance partners from CPA Squared. According to Deroanian, "Internships are important because employers look for real-world working experience in today's job market."

Hudson Valley Community College, Troy NY

  • Andrew Feder of South Windsor was named to the fall 2016 President's List at Hudson Valley Community College. Feder is studying in the Business- Marketing academic program. Each fall and spring term, the college's President's List names those full-time students and part-time students registered for at least six college credits who have a term average of between 3.5 and 4.0 and who received no grade of "D," "F," "I," "Z," or "W" on their record for that term. Students must have completed at least 12 college credits successfully.

Keene State College, Keene NH

  • Keene State College announces that 1,400 students have been named to the fall 2016 dean's list, including South Windsor residents Amanda Bowman, Colin Goodall, Jennifer Jovino and Amy Orsini.

Lasell College, Newton MA

  • Lasell College recently named Sabrina Skenyon of South Windsor to the Dean's List for the fall 2016 semester. Skenyon, whose major is Psychology, is a member of the class of 2018 and was among 722 students honored in the fall 2016 semester. To achieve the Dean's List, each student must be full-time carrying 12 or more graded credits for the semester with a grade point average of 3.5 or above.

Western New England University, Springfield MA

  • Jacob A. Singer, majoring in Mechanical Engineering, Five-year Bachelor/MBA, is among more than 100 students who presented their Product Development and Innovation projects at the Product Innovation Showcase held in Rivers Memorial Hall on the University campus. The Product Innovation Showcase is the culmination of a co-curricular course where entrepreneurial teams of Engineering and Business students collaborate for a full semester to turn new product ideas into marketable products, some of which could potentially receive patents. Engineering students develop a functional prototype and Business students develop the business plan. The format of the event is a competition where VIP visitors are given $1 million "Western New England University dollars" to invest in the product innovation that demonstrates the most commercial viability. Singer's project is entitled Peanut Better Jars. Peanut Better Jars is a new and improved peanut butter jar.
