SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — Charges have been filed locally in connection with a November police pursuit that originated in East Hartford and spilled into South Windsor, police said.

South Windsor police on Wednesday arrested 19-year-old Yavier Ruiz-Velez of East Hartford on an active arrest warrant while he was being presented in Manchester Superior Court for another case.

Ruiz-Velez’s arrest stems from a Nov. 19 motor vehicle accident, police said.

Ruiz-Velez was operating a vehicle being pursued by East Hartford police and he crashed at the intersection of Route 5 and Governors Highway after crossing into South Windsor, according to a report.

While conducting an "inventory search of the vehicle," SWPD officers located 5.4 grams of cocaine/fentanyl, 2.3 grams of marijuana, and 100 empty white wax folds commonly used to package narcotics, according to a report. Local police then applied for a warrant.

RuizVelez's case was assigned a $100,000 bond, police said.
