SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.

Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT

  • Twenty-seven Eastern Connecticut State University students are serving as student leaders at the Center for Community Engagement (CCE) this fall 2019 semester. The CCE coordinates community service programs across Willimantic. Marissa Daniolos of South Windsor majors in Psychology and runs the CCE programs for the Vanderman Place Rehabilitation Center, United Way Readers and Windham Middle School After School Program. Emily Minnich of South Windsor majors in History and Social Science and runs the CCE programs for the Covenant Soup Kitchen, St. Joseph Senior Living Center and Windham Middle School After School Program.
  • Nearly 100 students are participating in Eastern Connecticut State University's highly selective University Honors Program this 2019-20 academic year. Among the students are
    Allison Lundy of South Windsor, who majors in Early Childhood Education and Psychology and is in her fourth year in the program, and Kyle Garneau of South Windsor, who majors in Political Science and Business Administration. This is Garneau's first in the program. The Honors Program accepts highly motivated and academically driven students. When accepted into the program, students are required to complete several additional classes, including a capstone course in which students complete a thesis based around their academic major.

  • Goodwin College's President's List for the summer 2019 session includes 230 students, all of whom scored a perfect 4.0 GPA. South Windsor honorees are Gina Giordano and Jennifer Nguyen.
