Coventry Police Charge South Windsor Man After Recovering ATV Stolen in Vernon

Coventry police arrested a man in connection with an ATV theft on Tuesday.

COVENTRY, CT — Coventry police have arrested a South Windsor man for stealing a high-end all-terrain vehicle from a Vernon dealership.

Coventry police said they Arrested Michael Ahern, 36, of Hilton Drive, South Windsor, on Tuesday.

Ahern was charged with first-degree larceny and first-degree criminal trover, Coventry police said.

In July, Coventry police received information from South Windsor Police that Ahern may have been in possession of stolen property, possibly located at a residential address, according to a report.

Coventry police officers discovered an ATV at that location that had VIN numbers that were obliterated, decals removed and an ignition system that had been removed, a report indicates.

The ATV was seized, and with the assistance of Vernon police, it was determined that it was stolen on July 3 from Scranton Powersports, located at 560 Talcottville Road in Vernon, according to a report.

The vehicle is a 2017 Polaris RZR XP 1000 valued at approximately $20,000, police said.

Ahern was held on $10,000 bond and was scheduled for a Tuesday arraignment in Rockville Superior Court, police said.
