DUI Driver Found Unconscious Behind Wheel of Running Car: South Windsor Police

Police arrested the man after the vehicle was found stopped in the roadway on Route 5.

A South Windsor man faces drunk driving charges after police found him unconscious behind the wheel of a running car.

Police located a vehicle stopped in the roadway on Route 5 at about 11:50 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5.

The operator was unconscious behind the wheel and the vehicle was running, according to police.

Officers woke the man and suspected that he was under the influence of alcohol.

Following a series of roadside sobriety tests officers arrested the man, Richard Fiorita, 21, of 95 Hilton Drive. He was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and failure to have headlamps lit.

Fioriata was later released on a $1,000 surety bond and is scheduled to appear at Manchester Superior Court on Nov. 16.
