The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it:
student population. The explosive growth of students in town has been helped by four new elementary schools. However the secondary schools are busting at the seams. I will push to ensure that we use our available space effectively, efficiently, and and in a way that doesn’t stunt the learning of our children. This could be use of other facilities to alleviate pressure or even new middle and high school campuses.
Critical differences between me and my opponents:
It’s true all my children go to school in our town and my wife is a long time teacher in a neighboring district. I understand the ins and outs of what teachers, students, and and parents need in ways other candidates don’t. But just as importantly I understand that solutions are nuanced and require collaboration and cooperation.
Accomplishments:
I’ve helped negotiate the two most recent teacher contacts, fought for our new elementary schools, and and worked with a diverse group of individuals from all parties to push South Windsor Schools even higher.
Other issues:
-Importance of lights on our athletic fields which can lead to a later High School start time. -Ensuring teachers and students have the necessary resources to be successful. -Making sure every student is given access to a high quality education. This could take the form of special education, gifted programs, and or a diverse range of extra curriculars.
What else would you like voters to know about you?
I believe you aren’t willing to grow in your opinions and positions then you shouldn’t be an elected official. We must serve all members of our community and respect the various backgrounds and positions of others. Our town is growing exponentially and both in diversity and in size. If we do not do what it takes to ensure we are creating an inclusive learning environment for our students then we have failed them.
