The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it:
A pressing issue in our town is the current political polarity amongst our residents which divides us and impedes us from achieving even our common goals. As an elected official, I am open to varying beliefs and views, even if they differ from my own. We must be willing to listen, work together and respect each other so that we can function, and accomplish our goals and succeed as a community.
Critical differences between me and my opponents:
As a parent of four children who have attended SW public schools since kindergarten (class of 2021, 2023, 2026, 2028), I have a unique perspective of our district. My children have participated in the Excel program and the Special Education program, taken AP classes and summer school classes, applied for scholarships and college, played on school sport's teams, played in the band and orchestra, performed on stage and participated in clubs and other school related activities. I understand the unique challenges individual students face, and the resources that are available and what is needed to improve the experience of students and families in our district.
Accomplishments:
Yale University. Masters of Science in Nursing. 1999 American Nurses Credentialing Center Content Expert Panel Vice Chair. 2013-2017 South Windsor Board of Education. 2015-Present South Windsor BOE Vice Chair. 2015-2017 American Nurses Credentialing Center Content Expert Panel Chair. 2017-2018 South Windsor BOE Secretary. 2019-Present South Windsor BOE Chair of Policy Review Committee. 2015-Present
Other issues:
Student Achievement Student Opportunities User Friendly Processes for Parents Honest Communication Fiscal Responsibility
What else would you like voters to know about you?
I am a Mom. I am not a career politician. I have no desire to expand my political career beyond our board of education. Our students and the education in our town is my priority and not politics. My goal is to support and enhance our local education in a fiscally responsible way. I am passionate about our students maximizing their own personal potential.
