The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it:
The single most pressing issue facing our town is assuring it is welcoming and accessible to all current and future residents across generations. I will continue to work to keep taxes low (continue the current tax cuts from past two years) and make our community a place where all feel welcomed regardless of race, gender, socioeconomic status, age, etc.
Critical differences between me and my opponents:
The Democratic team has worked hard to create an environment that is welcoming and accessible through all through tax cuts, creating of a commission that delves into race and equity, and even being recognized in 2020 as a top 20 town to live across the country by Money Magazine. I, as a town leader and individual, hold high values to transparency, equity, and ethical standards when working on behalf of the citizens of South Windsor.
Accomplishments:
I have worked with my fellow councilors to pass budgets in the past two years that reduced taxes for citizens all without a reduction in services. I chaired the subcommittee that led to the creation of the South Windsor Racial Equity and Social Justice Commission. I was involved with the Support South Windsor Schools group that worked to ensure the passage of the referendums that funded the building of new elementary schools or our children. I have also been heavily involved with and served on the board of South Windsor MOMS Club as President and in other important roles.
Other issues:
As a mother, my decisions a derived from my desire to make the world a better place for my own children as well as future generations. The filter from which I view the decisions made for this town and our community all tie back to the importance of individuals and families and how we are impacted as a whole. I have always been someone who fights for the underdog and for doing the right thing, and even from a young age and that has not changed through my adult life.
What else would you like voters to know about you?
My husband grew up in South Windsor and when choosing a place to raise our family, we chose here. Our community has so much to offer from schools, to parks, programs, and events. My children are involved in sports and other programs offered throughout the town. I am proud to have contributed to our community through my roles on Board of Education, Town Council, and South Windsor MOMS Club.
