The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it:
In my opinion, a pressing issue in town is the divisiveness that has appeared. As a lawyer, I can be a zealous advocate in the courtroom, but still walk out and have a civil and friendly conversation with my opposing counsel. I strive to bring back civility amongst ourselves, and to help us to agree to disagree respectfully. Our elected officials are people who serve with the best interests of this town in mind. While we may have different opinions as to what those interests are, and we are all neighbors in this great town here to serve and help one another.
Critical differences between me and my opponents:
My professional training is to spot issues and negotiate agreements. My training has also assisted me in understanding and advocating for opinions and viewpoints different than mine. That is vital to the role of a Town Councilor as I am there to serve the majority of our citizens not my own personal beliefs.
Accomplishments:
I have served as a Town Councilor for the last three years. I have also been an attorney for the last 13 years, with the last three as a small business owner. Further, I have two children in the town school system, and where I volunteer every chance that I can get.
Other issues:
I originally was a vocal citizen regarding the daycare options in town and the expansion of the 4th R program. I am still passionate about assisting families with young children to find appropriate before and after care solutions. I also want to ensure smart growth in our town by revitalizing unoccupied buildings and as well as focusing on continuing to lower our mill rate and taxes in town.
What else would you like voters to know about you?
I am not a career politician. First and foremost, I am a mom, a wife, and a lawyer. My decisions are always centered around how to continue to make South Windsor, the town that I love, better for my children, their friends, and the whole next generation.
