Sometimes it can seem difficult to get from one place to another in South Windsor without hopping in your car. Finding and forming connections between our neighborhoods, parks, shopping areas and schools has been a major focus of South Windsor Walk and Wheel Ways. And promoting the idea of safe travel on these connections via bicycle and walking is a big goal.
Our Master Plan (available at www.swwww.org) has identified and prioritized some of these connections, and we have begun to build and or fix a few, that could make that trip to the park, or school a lot easier and safer. Here are the first three Walk and Wheel Way Connectors:
1. Tallwood Drive to Autumn Drive. This 50 foot paved section connects two cul-de-sacs and can get you from Felt Road, over to Orchard Hill Elementary School and Timothy Edwards Middle School using quiet side streets.

2. Andreis Trail to Carriage Drive. This is a 657 foot path, mostly crushed stone dust that leads to Nevers Park. The path crossed the CL & P Power corridor.
3. Nevers Road Park to Abbe Rd. Ext. Finally, this brand new path, extending 775 feet of crushed stone, branches off the main trail in Nevers Park and takes you to Abbe Road Extention/Windshire Drive. These neighborhoods now have direct access to the park and all of its features.
