Government Shutdown and a brief what it means

Most people in South Windsor its business as usual but for congress they thought it would be better to fight and have a government shutdown.

House and Senate have effectively shut down the federal government for the first time in 17 years, without a funding bill in place.

A shutdown means all federal government services deemed nonessential will be suspended all federally funded museums will close, as well as the nation's 401 national parks.

Says about 9,000 federal workers in Connecticut, including some of his own staff, could face job furloughs if the federal government shuts down.

One-third of federal workers will be furloughed. Others will stay on the job, such as air-traffic controllers and border patrol agents. They will be operating under government IOU's - meaning they will get the back pay in their checks once the government passes a spending bill.

One point both houses could agree on: paying the military. A bill approving funding for military pay during the shutdown was passed unanimously by the House and Senate and was signed by the president.

Was this shutdown because of a budget dispute over President Barack Obama's healthcare law. Congress still goes to work and again doesn’t look out for the people that voted them in office, what do think the next step should be?
