"A short time later the suspect’s vehicle hit a tree at the intersection of Garnet Lane and Old Farm Road," according to a police statement. "The heavily damaged Jeep Cherokee left the scene and was located, unoccupied, a short distance away on Garnet Lane. Officers searched for the missing operator who was not immediately found. As officers prepared for a larger area search the suspect was located inside a Garnet Lane home.

"The investigation revealed that the suspect had forced entry into the home and had no connection to the residence. The man lied about his identity to officers and was generally uncooperative."
