Historic South Windsor Home Saved From the Wrecking Ball
A grassroots effort by neighbors of the Olcott House on Main Street saved the 18th century structure from demolition.

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT - A historic house on Main Street that had been slated for demolition has been saved due to the efforts of neighbors, the Hartford Courant reported.
The Olcott House, built in 1782 by Revolutionary War veteran Asahel Olcott, had been deemed unrestorable by several contractors, prompting its owner to plan for its demolition.
However, a group of neighbors sought to preserve the structure at 1091 Main Street, and successfully submitted a petition to the State Historic Preservation Office.
