Increase Curb Appeal Paint Your Front Door

Painting your front door is a great way to increase the curb appeal of your home with minimal effort. You can be bold, anything goes!   Go on a drive and look around at other people’s front doors. This should help you to figure out colors that you like. You can then get paint samples and put your choices on poster board. Try them out on your front door and decide which color you like the best . Choose a color that will provide a nice contrast with the paint colors on the rest of your house. Your front door should definitely stand out and not be used on any other part of your home’s exterior. Now you’re ready to paint! 1. Tape off the door knob and other hardware with painter’s tape.  2.  Lightly sand and clean your door. (If your door is stained wood, you will need to prime it before you paint.  Coat your front door with one coat of exterior latex adhesion primer). 3.  Use a quality angled paintbrush to apply exterior semi-gloss latex paint. Put a thin coat on following the direction of the wood on the door. Always finish your brush stroke into a wet edge. 4. Let the door dry completely and then recoat. Usually 2 coats will do it. You’re Done! Put out a couple of colorful potted plants and you’re ready to impress.
