'Known Shoplifter' Found With The Goods — And Meth — At Store: SWPD

SOUTH WINDSOR. CT —South Windsor police arrested a 36-year-old Southington man Friday evening after officers were called to Target at 125 Buckland Hills Drive for a reported shoplifting in progress,, according to police.

At 6:13 p.m. officers responded to the store for a reported "known shoplifter" who was actively concealing items throughout the store.

According to police, officers located the man and arrested him. During a search incident to arrest, officers found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in his possession, police reported.

The man was charged with criminal attempt at larceny in the sixth degree, possession of a controlled substance (first offense) and use of drug paraphernalia, according to police.

Police said the man was processed and released on a $5,000 non-surety bond. He is scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at 9 a.m.
