Main Street in South Windsor Reopens
The road was closed May 1 due to a giant sinkhole.
South Windsor celebrated the reopening on Main Street on Thursday after two months of extensive repairs due to a giant sinkhole.
The Public Works Department posted the above photo and following message on Facebook:
Fittingly, the first “vehicle” driven over the newly reopened main Street last night was a tractor driven by Ed Kasheta Senior , followed by tractors driven by Kip Shepard and Paul Oates. Thanks to all who attend the simple reopening celebration and who helped make the project a success. Thanks to all the residents for your encouragement, to ESI for the great work, to the Pollution Control , Engineering and Street Services staff of Public Works for your dedication to the effort, to the BOE for your understanding,to Connecticut Water Company for your donation of time and resources, to the Town Council for your support and to all the sub contractors that played a critical role in providing materials and services during the construction. Truly a community effort!
