Man With 52 Arrests Facing New Charges in South Windsor
A man with 52 arrests on his record is facing new charges in South Windsor and East Hartford, police said.

SOUTH WINDSOR/EAST HARTFORD, CT — A man who has been arrested 52 times in a criminal history that dates back to 1977 has been arrested for a series of thefts in South Windsor and East Hartford, police said.
Edward Williams, 57, was in Manchester Superior Court on Tuesday after being served four warrants out of East Hartford for crimes ranging from second-degree identity theft to criminal impersonation to identity theft to larceny, judicial system records indicate.
While he was at court, South Windsor police served a warrant related to a 2016 case that charged him with credit card theft, identity theft, sixth-degree larceny and related conspiracy offenses, police said.

He is due back in court on May 2 and was being held Wednesday morning on bonds totaling $25,000, according to court records.
In South Windsor, Williams is accused of entering an employees-only area of a local retail store and taking a woman’s credit cards, according to a warrant.

The cards were then used to make purchases at other stores, according to a warrant.
South Windsor deputy chief Scott Custer said Williams had been "on the run."
Most of his arrests since 1977 were for similar offenses, police said.
