Man Accused of Leading South Windsor Police Officer in Car Chase Twice in Two Days

Amaury Serrano, 29, of Hartford, was arrested Thursday.

South Windsor police arrested a Hartford man Thursday on reckless driving and motor vehicle violations after he allegedly engaged an officer in pursuit twice in two days, according to a police press release.

Amaury Serrano, 29, of 54 Margarita Drive, was arrested Nov. 20 on two arrest warrants.

Police said that on Oct. 30 an officer tried to stop a driver for traveling at 78 mph in a 40 mph zone. He failed to stop for the officer’s lights and siren, eventually getting onto Interstate 84 at which time the officer discontinued trying to stop the car, according to police.

Police said the following day the officer located the same vehicle and attempted to stop the car to identify the operator. The operator, Serrano, again engaged the officer in pursuit.

Once the officer had the license plate number he discontinued following Serrano. The officer later contacted Serrano and positively identified him as the operator in both cases. An arrest warrant was obtained and served on Thursday.

Serrano was charged with two counts each of disobeying the signal of an officer, reckless driving, operating a motor vehicle while license is suspended, operating without Insurance, and one count of failure to obey control signal and passing on the right.

Serrano was later released on a $5,000 surety bond and is scheduled to appear at Manchester Superior Court on Dec. 1.
