Mother Faces Child Abuse Charges in South Windsor

A woman allegedly used discipline that caused excessive bruising on the child, according to police.

A South Windsor woman faces child abuse charges after a child of hers was found with excessive bruising, according to police.

Huiju Li, 37, of 83 Candlewood Drive, South Windsor, was arrested Monday on a warrant and charged with risk of injury to a minor, third-degree assault, tampering with a witness, breach of peace and second-degree reckless endangerment.

Police said Li’s charges stem from a 2015 DCF investigation concerning injuries to a child that was under her care.

The injuries involved bruising and through the help of an interpreter, officers learned that it was a result of discipline that went beyond what would be considered normal, according to police.

Li was later released on an $80,000 surety bond and is scheduled to appear at Manchester Superior Court on Feb. 25.
