Stolen ID From Local Park Led To $27,000 Bank Withdrawal Spree

Police said the suspect was extradited from Florida and held on a $75,000 bond in connection with a 2021 case in South Windsor.

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — A 54-year-old New York woman was arrested overnight on a warrant tied to a 2021 investigation into vehicle break-ins at Nevers Road Park, police said.

According to the South Windsor Police Department, Kimberly A. Maine, 54, of Troy, New York, was taken into custody at 12:13 a.m. Thursday on charges of first-degree larceny, first-degree identity theft and payment card theft.

Police said the charges stem from a July 2021 incident in which three vehicles were broken into at Nevers Road Park. One victim’s driver’s license and bank card were stolen and later used to withdraw about $27,000 from multiple Webster Bank locations across Connecticut.

Investigators said Maine was identified as a suspect in February 2023 after she was arrested by police in Blackstone, Massachusetts, in connection with a fraudulent bank withdrawal in that town. Authorities said she was found in possession of several stolen IDs and credit cards at the time, including those belonging to one of the South Windsor victims.

An arrest warrant was later obtained, and Maine was extradited from Florida, where she had been incarcerated on similar charges, police said.
