Picture South Windsor - Then And Now
An old photo and brief story from South Windsor's past, and how that site appears today.

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — Today we return to the pages of an amazing picture book entitled Images of America: South Windsor, compiled in 2017 by Claire Lobdell for the Wood Memorial Library & Museum. The book, containing 128 pages of fascinating photos from the town's history, is available for purchase at the library's museum store here.
On page 54 is a picture taken in 1940 of the Union District School at 771 Main Street. The public school was constructed in 1905, and used as a school until the late 1960s. It later housed the district administration offices, and was home to a preschool in the 1980s.
The schoolhouse has been owned by the South Windsor Historical Society since 2007, but is currently in total disrepair.
