Police Forced To Break Window To Wake Driver At Intersection

Police said the driver failed field sobriety tests and was released on bond after his arrest.

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — Police arrested a South Windsor man late Monday night after finding him asleep behind the wheel at a busy intersection.

According to the South Windsor Police Department, officers were called around 9:15 p.m. to the area of Ellington Road and Buckland Road for a report of a driver stopped in the intersection and not responding. Police said officers had to break a window to wake the driver.

Investigators determined the driver, identified as Peter J. Santos, 49, was under the influence and in possession of narcotics, police said. He was taken into custody, processed, and later released on a $5,000 non-surety bond.
