Police Seize 35 Pounds of Marijuana in South Windsor Drug Bust

Two men were arrested in the operation, which was conducted by the East Central Narcotics Taskforce.

Two men were arrested and police seized 35 pounds in marijuana in a drug bust Wednesday in South Windsor.

The operation targeted a street-level drug dealer who was known to drive in and around the area and was conducted by members of the East Central Narcotics Taskforce, with assistance from Homeland Security and the South Windsor Patrol Division.

During the operation, a 2008 Subaru Outback with Massachusetts plates was observed traveling at a high rate of speed on Sullivan Avenue, according to Manchester Sgt. Rick Grimaldi, East Central Narcotics Taskforce Supervisor.

The vehicle was stopped by South Windsor Patrol, an interdiction investigation was conducted and as a result, a quantity of marijuana was located in two large audio speakers that were being carried in the cargo area of the car, according to Grimaldi.

Taskforce officers seized the 2008 Subaru Outback and approximately 35 pounds of marijuana in the operation.

Police arrested David Loomis, 30, of Halifax, Vermont, and Aaron Kater, 29, of North Hampton, Mass., in the stop.

Loomis was arrested on charges of possession of more than 4 ounces of marijuana, possession with intent to sell, conspiracy to possess more than 4 ounces of marijuana and conspiracy to possess with intent to sell and traveling too fast for conditions.

He was held in lieu of a $250,000 surety bond.

Kater was arrested on charges of possession of more than 4 ounces of marijuana, possession with intent to sell, conspiracy to possess more than 4 ounces of marijuana and conspiracy to possess with intent to sell.

He was also held on a $250,000 surety bond.

The East Central Narcotics Taskforce, in cooperation with other municipal and federal law enforcement agencies, is interested in stopping illegal narcotics sales and use in the Manchester, South Windsor, Vernon and Glastonbury communities.
