“It was a beautiful ceremony today and I was pleased to see so many local veterans, public officials and family members here to honor the Palmquist family,” said Rep. Aman. “It’s so important to make sure all of our wartime veterans are awarded all of the medals and distinctions they deserve for their service, that’s what makes these ceremonies so special. It was an honor to meet with Mrs. Palmquist today.”
Born in Sweden in May of 1921, Mr. Palmquist enlisted in the U.S. Army in August of 1943. Active from 1943 to January 1946, Technician Fifth Grade or “Tech Corporal” (T/5) Runo Palmquist served Company H, 15th Infantry Regiment during various battles and campaigns including Rome-Arno, Southern France and the Rhineland.
