Revised Field Layout Now Part Of South Windsor School Plans
Revised field improvements have been added to the $32.4 million project to renovate Phillip R. Smith School.

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — Revised field improvements have been added to the $32.4 million project to renovate Phillip R. Smith School. The South Windsor Planning and Zoning Commission endorsed a change order to the plans on Tuesday.
Baseball and soccer fields are located in the back portion of the campus and abut some wetlands, which could be minmally affected, according to the plans. The field s are used by both the school and youth programs.
The school is located at 949 Avery St.

The premise is to shift the layouts so field space can be expanded, according to the plans. The course taken by runoff water will also be improved, according to the plans. A piping system under the fields has also been suggested by the contractor to further improve drainage, according to the plans.
The baseball backstop is to be shifted slightly to the north and east in order to improve the left field area. The previous layout had the soccer field crossing the infield. A fence would be installed at the edge of both fields, according go the plans.
