WILLIMANTIC, CT — At 39-3, the baseball team at Eastern Connecticut State University has the best record of any Division III school in the nation, and is ranked No. 1 in Region II. A big part of the team's success has been junior shortstop Zach Donahue of South Windsor, who is one of six Warriors named to the All-Little East Conference first team.

In his first season at Eastern after two years at the University of Connecticut, Donahue stepped in for last year's first-team All-LEC shortstop, Owen Marica, and batted .331 with 44 runs and a team-leading 102 assists. As the team's leadoff hitter, the switch-hitter appeared in all 42 games, starting 33 at shortstop and seven at third base. During the season, he reached safely in 21 straight games, four behind John Mesagno's team-high mark of 25.

The 2019 graduate of South Windsor High School was a 3-time All-CCC selection, and earned All-State honors during his senior year as team captain. He batted .440 with 35 hits in his senior season with the Bobcats, and was selected to the Connecticut Senior All-Star Game. In his high school career, he batted .344 with 72 hits, two home runs and 36 stolen bases.
