South Windsor Business Damaged By Fire: SWFD

According to fire officials, the blaze at the Satellite Road operation was partially contained by a working sprinkle system.

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — A commercial laundry operation in South Windsor was damaged by fire late Tuesday night.

However, a working sprinkler system and fast action by local firefighters helped prevent further damage.

According to the South Windsor Fire Department, firefighters were dispatched to the Unitex Healthcare Laundry Services operation at 145 Satellite Road at about 11:09 p.m.

Upon arrival, firefighters noticed light smoke outside the building and heavier smoke inside, prompting a declaration of a working fire, the SWFD said.

More units were called to the address, with some leaving from a prior fire alarm call on the north side of town, the SWFD said.

"The fire was difficult to locate inside the business but was eventually found being held in check in the corner of the warehouse by an activated sprinkler head," wrote the SWFD in a statement. "Crews extinguished the fire shortly after."

According to the SWFD, mutual aid was provided by the Manchester Fire Department and the Broad Brook Fire Department (East Windsor).

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the South Windsor Fire Marshal's Office.
