SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — The 2023 municipal election season is heating up in South Windsor, and there are plenty of races with candidates eager to serve in elected office.

Education: I have a 6th year in educational leadership and supervision and masters in education

What is your occupation? 33 years as Grade 7 math teacher in public education

Do you have a family? If so, please tell us about them.

Married to Craig Maneeley for 33 years ;three children educated in SWPS
Travis a graduate of West Virginia University class of 2014; a married daughter,Jessica graduated James Madison University class of 2016 and will graduate university of Richmond law school May 2023; a son Tyler graduate of Manchester Community College class of 2018.

Have you ever held a public office, whether appointive or elective?

I have continuously held elected office in South Windsor since November 2003, both as a town councilor and board of education (chairperson and vice chairperson)

Now we'd like to ask a few questions about your reasons for running and your general views on politics and government. First, why are you seeking this office?

I’m passionate about education and believe I can have an impact on the board. I have personally witnessed the evolution of curriculums, funding and school climates during my tenure. I believe I can bring a wealth of experience and a profound understanding of the vital role of public education plays in fostering a thriving community.

The budget impact on the town’s overall financial planning. Especially with SW being the only district in the state with double digit student population growth. I am committed to ensuring prudent fiscal management and supporting the superintendent and her team.

What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

My wealth of experience in the educational field and well as my elected tenure.

What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?

Assist the superintendent as the town navigates the increasing enrollment and the financial impact it will have on the South Windsor community.

My proven record on past boards.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?

Stay informed and listen to concerns and bring them forward to those who can address them best.
