SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — During the overnight hours Sunday into Monday, "smash and grab" burglaries involving motor vehicles took place in several South Windsor neighborhoods, police said.

Vehicle windows were broken, and in some cases, items were taken, police said.

Roads mentioned by police included Felt Road, the northern area of Avery Street and Nutmeg Road South.

Police said they would be "ramping up patrols" around town during the overnight hours.

"This is certainly a step up from entering unlocked vehicles, and we as an agency share your concern for your property," police said in a message to residents. "As a reminder, continue to lock your vehicles and take any items of value inside your house each night. Security cameras and parking a vehicle in an area that is well lit has also been found to be a good deterrent to these types of incidents."
