South Windsor Election 2015: The Results Are In

Republicans made key gains in the town council race in Tuesday's municipal election.

South Windsor Republicans enjoyed a big night in Tuesday’s municipal election, claiming six spots on the nine-member council with a new mayor looming, according to the Hartford Courant.

The Courant reports Republicans Lisa Maneeley and William “Billy” Carroll will join incumbents Tom Delnicki, Carolyn Mirek, Matt Riley and Janice Snyder on the council while Democrats Edward Havens and Liz Pendleton retained their seats.

Democratic Mayor M. Saud Anwar also won re-election to the council but the party that holds the council majority elects the town’s mayor and Anwar told the Courant he expects the Republicans to pick a candidate from their own party.
