South Windsor Obituary: Jacqueline Messner, 85

Jacqueline (Platt) Messner, 85, of East Windsor, formerly of South Windsor, died peacefully on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Touchpoints at Chestnut in East Windsor surrounded by her family.

She was born in 1931 in Manchester, daughter of the late Eugene and Essie (Frink) Platt. Jacqueline grew up in South Windsor and graduated from Ellsworth High School. She went to work at the Connecticut General Life Insurance Company in Hartford.

She was married to George Messner on July 28, 1951 and together they settled on Foster Street in South Windsor, where they lived for 14 years, before moving to Schwenksville, PA. She moved back to South Windsor in the late 1980s.

Jacqueline was a kind, caring, loving mother who dedicated her life to providing for her family. She enjoyed the time she could spend with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed music, gardening, nature, walks outdoors and family picnics. She was inspirational in planning for the Foster Street Reunion that took place in August of 2002.

She leaves her children, Cheryl and Lou Baldino of Harleysville, PA, Peter and Diane Messner of Souderton, PA, Gary and Lori Messner of Quakertown, PA, and Susan Messner of Lamar, MO; her brother, Edward Platt of Indiana, PA; her sister, Judith Grout of Sun Valley, CA; 9 grandchildren, Jessica, Justin, Grace, Rose, Alanna, Andrew, Matthew, Jasper, and Jasmine and 4 great grandchildren, Taylor, Camden, Adrian and Ava. She was predeceased by her son, Ross A. Messner and her brother, Douglas Platt.

Her family will receive friends on Saturday, December 31, 2016, from 10-11 a.m., at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor; followed by a Memorial Service to begin at 11 a.m. All are welcome. Burial will follow at Wapping Cemetery in South Windsor.
