South Windsor Obituary: Joyce Conroy, 91

Joyce E. (Underhill) Conroy, 91, of South Windsor loving wife of 40 years to the late Robert L. Conroy entered into Eternal Rest on Thursday, March 29, 2017, at St. Francis Hospital.

Joyce was born September 28, 1925, in Haverill, New Hampshire the daughter of the late Henry and Selina Maude (Cornford) Underhill. Prior to moving to South Windsor, Joyce resided in Somers for over 39 years. She was a longtime faithful and active member of the Somers Congregational Church where she served on several council boards as well as a member of the bell choir.

Joyce retired after 32 years from the State of CT as Director of Personnel for the Department of Mental Health and Department of Transportation. She was a member of the International Professional Management Association-for Human Resource and was on the state contract negotiating team.

Joyce loved traveling both domestic and internationally, and would spend hours working on her scrapbooking of all of her trips. She was also enjoyed working on her many making stained glass projects.

Joyce is survived by her children, Robert Sneed of Warren RI, Lynda Rielly and her husband, Mike of Naperville, IL, Paul Wheeler of Falls Church, VA, Elizabeth "Beth" Rosa and her husband, Rick Skodinski of South Windsor, Heather Wieworka of Aurora, IL, Jill Rondeau and her husband, Scott Woodruff of Enola, PA; a brother, Douglas Underhill and his wife Kim of Grand Junction Colorado, a sister, Janet Dagenhart of Windsor, she had eleven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great granddaughter, along with many nieces and nephews.

A Service of Remembrance will be held on Monday, April 3, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at the Somers Congregational Church, 599 Main Street, Somers. Burial will follow in the Somers Congregational Church Memorial Garden. Relatives and friends may call on Joyce's family at the Somers Funeral Home, 354 Main Street, (Rte 190) on Sunday, April 2, 2017, from 2-4 p.m.
