South Windsor Obituary: Nancy Benson, 75

Nancy (Hutchins) Benson, 75, of South Windsor, beloved wife of Robert Benson, died unexpectedly on Monday, May 21, 2018 at Hartford Hospital.

Nancy was born on July 27, 1942 in Hartford, daughter of the late Erwin A. and Edith (Miller) Hutchins. Nancy grew up in East Hartford and was a graduate of East Hartford High School with the Class of 1960.

She was married to the love of her life on October 1, 1960 and together they settled in South Windsor. Nancy had a passion and an amazing talent for quilting. She made quilts for her children, grandchildren and friends for many years. She also donated quilts to the Neonatal ICU units at several area hospitals. A kind, caring, loving, and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother, she will be dearly missed.

Along with her husband Robert, of over 57 years, she leaves her daughters, Robin Fox and her husband Rick of West Hartford, and Heather Emmette and her husband Todd of Windsor Locks; her sister, Betty Hoyt of Windsor Locks; her grandchildren, Megan Emmette, Nicole Corneau, Sarah Griswold, Lauren Corneau, Janis Emmette, and Joshua Griswold; and her great grandchildren, Anna, Wyatt, and Elaina. She was predeceased by her daughter, Dawn Marie Griswold.

Her family will receive friends on Saturday, May 26, 2018 from 6-8 p.m., at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor. A private memorial service will follow. Burial will be private at the request of her family.
