South Windsor Obituary: Nancy Demarais, 94

Nancy Demarais passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 16th, at the wonderful age of 94.

She is survived by her 5 children, Marybeth, Frank (and Barbara), Stephen (and Carol), Ann (and Richard), and Bobby (and Teresa); and her 7 grandsons; Stephen, Alex (and Julia), Michael, Tom, Mark, Joey, and Jonathan. Nancy was very social and is survived by a very large number of lifelong friends who have been such a positive part of her life.

Nancy was born and raised in New Haven, the youngest of 6 children. After her father found a summer spot in Mansfield Grove, East Haven, she spent every summer at the beach with her family and friends. For her entire 94 years it was her favorite place on earth.

In 1954, she met and married the love of her life, Henry Demarais. They settled in South Windsor, where they raised their children. Nancy worked for the South Windsor Board of Education, and loved playing bridge, golfing and swimming - she was the state backstroke champion in 1940. In her later years, she lived in White Oaks Independent Living in Manchester, and Sunrise retirement home in Norwood MA.

On Saturday July 29th at 10:00 am, a memorial mass will be held at St Margaret Mary Church, 80 Hayes Rd., South Windsor.
