
Norman E. “Norm” Yvon, 94, of South Windsor, beloved husband of the late Marie (Corriveau) Yvon, died peacefully on Tuesday, June 19, 2018, at home, surrounded by his family.
Norm was born in Holyoke, MA, on May 7, 1924, son of the late Arthur V. and Aldina (Laverty) Yvon. Norm was a graduate of Public School - 87 in New York City. He went on to serve our country with the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII.
He worked in his younger years for Friendly’s Ice Cream and was their first delivery truck driver. He also worked for Hamilton Standard as an Airplane Mechanic with skills he acquired in the service.

He and his late wife Marie were residents of South Windsor for over 60 years. Norm was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps., and avid Boston Red Sox fan, and loved to dance. A “Jack” of all trades he could fix anything. Norm was a kind, caring and lovingly devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who will be dearly missed.
He leaves his children, Patty Yvon of Bellflower, CA, Barbara Yvon of South Windsor, and Richard Yvon, and his wife Maryanne of Bradford, ME, and stepdaughter, Gail Fandacone of Newington; his grandchildren, Melissa, Kathy, Judy, Sarah, Annarose, and Amanda; and his great grandchildren, Madison, Jack, Nicky, Cameron, Emberlynn, Melissa, Kyle, Megan, and Cassie. He also leaves his cousin Bobby Shea in Sun City, FL, and two close nephews, Dennis Young in FL, and Jimmy Young in AZ.

His family will receive friends on Saturday, June 23, 2018, from 9-10 a.m., at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 239 Graham Rd., South Windsor; followed by a funeral service to begin at 10 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park in Rocky Hill with Military Honors.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church.
