South Windsor Obituary: William Peck, 93

William “Bill” Clark Peck, 93, of South Windsor passed away peacefully at home on September 6, 2017. He was the husband of Mary A. (Deegan) Duntz Peck.

In addition to his wife, Mary of 38 years, Bill leaves behind his sister; Patricia (Peck) Beck of Reston, VA, six children; William W. Peck of Matthews, NC, David D. Peck of Somers, Virginia P. Johnston of Pittsford, VT, Thomas B. Peck of Frankfort ME, Loretta K. Gorcenski of Columbia, and Jenifer S. Carey of South Windsor; one step-daughter, Mary D. Christensen of Avon; 25 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Bill is preceded in death by his first wife, Norma R. (Wallner) Peck.

Bill was born on May 21, 1924 in Watertown, NY, to parents William A. and Ruth H. (Bull) Peck. He graduated from Carthage High School in Carthage, NY, and Purdue University with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering.

Bill enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1942. He completed V-12 unit at Purdue University and Officer Candidate School at Cornell University. He served in the Pacific in World War II, with Special Training at the Combat Information Center, Brunswick Naval Air Station and Tactical Radar School, St. Simons Island, GA. He attained rank of Ensign, Executive Officer, Engineering Officer, and Commissary & Supply Officer. He served on the U.S.S. PC1143.

He was employed as an electrical engineer by United Technology for 33 years, in Windsor Locks. His many projects included designing control systems and circuitry for aircraft. Bill was a social, active man who was involved in his community and church for the most of his life. He enjoyed family reunions, travel, and community service. He ministered in prison fellowship and helped people start new businesses through the Service Corps of Retired Executives.

Bill’s family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 12th from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor. There will be a funeral service on Wednesday, September 13th at 10:00 am at the Truth Baptist Church, 60 Burnham Street, South Windsor. Please go directly to church. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Bill’s life. Burial will be private.
