South Windsor Officers Bike To D.C. For Fallen Police

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — Two South Windsor police officers are once again taking on a grueling multi-day bicycle ride to honor fallen law enforcement officers and raise money for a national memorial fund.

The South Windsor Police Department said Sgt. Joseph Futtner and Cpl. David Johnson will participate in this year’s Police Unity Tour Ride, a four-day journey of nearly 300 miles from Florham, New Jersey, to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C.

To take part, each officer must raise $2,500 for the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.

According to police, the fund honors fallen officers, supports their families, and promotes officer safety and wellness.

The department is encouraging residents to support the effort through donations, saying every amount helps.
