South Windsor Police Arrest Man for Car Break-ins at L.A. Fitness

Michael McCoy, 49, of East Hartford, is accused of breaking into several cars in July.

South Windsor police have arrested an East Hartford man in connection with a series of car burglaries at L.A. Fitness in July.

Michael McCoy, 49, of 31 High Street in East Hartford, was arrested on three warrants on Oct. 1. He was charged with three counts of third-degree burglary, two counts of third-degree identity theft, two counts of illegal use of a credit card, and three counts of sixth-degree larceny.

McCoy’s charges stem from a series of car burglaries at L.A. Fitness on Buckland Road in July, 2014, according to a police press release. South Windsor detectives obtained surveillance footage of the stolen credit cards being used in Hartford and later identified McCoy as the person responsible for the car break-ins, according to police.

McCoy was held in lieu of a $100,000 surety bond.
