Officers from the Midnight Watch were diligent in having patrol officers monitor the high school area during the early morning hours, every morning, during this period.

During the enforcement period we did note a surprising lack of compliance in regards to seat belt usage. We would like to remind everyone of the importance of wearing seatbelts, their use is proven to reduce injury and save lives.

It is the sincere hope of the Traffic Unit that these efforts have influenced motorists to be more aware of safe operation of motor vehicles in our school zones. We will continue to monitor traffic in our school zones and the safe operation of vehicles in those areas. It is the mission of the Traffic Unit to increase safety and reduce motor vehicle crashes on South Windsor roadways through engineering, education, and enforcement.
