South Windsor Police Report More Car Burglaries
Thieves have been targeting unlocked vehicles in many communities in the area.

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT - With new car burglaries being reported in East Windsor, police are warning residents to lock their vehicles. The groups of thieves have hit many towns in Central and Northern Connecticut in recent months.
Police posted the following on Facebook: "East Windsor residents are reporting car burglaries on Scantic Road. We know these groups tend to move town-to-town when looking for unlocked cars. Please lock your cars, make sure you have all the keys and key fobs accounted for and secure."

- Lock vehicle doors and close vehicle windows
- Remove keys from the vehicle
- Remove all personal items like cell phones purses, laptop computers
- Remove any portable devices such as GPS systems and DVD players
- Remove garage door openers from your vehicle when parking in the driveway or street
- If items need to stay in a vehicle, place them in the trunk or out of plain view
- If a car has an alarm system, use it
- Keep an exterior light on during the nighttime hours
