South Windsor Students Semifinalists For National Scholarship

Two local high school students have made the cut to advance toward the National Merit Scholarship.

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT - Two local students have been named as semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program. The students are among 16,000 semifinalists across the country who are competing for 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $31 million.

Over 1.6 million juniors in 22,000 high schools across the country enter the program via taking the PSATs, which screens program entrants. Semifinalists are in the top 1 percent of students nationwide.

To become a finalist for a scholarship, semifinalists will complete an application detailing their academic record, participation in community and school events, employment, awards, leadership ability, and honors.
