South Windsor Swimmer Turns in Great Showing at State Open

NEW HAVEN, CT — Despite having no individual event champions, Greenwich High School had enough depth to capture its fifth straight CIAC State Open boys swimming championship Saturday at the Yale University pool.

In winning the State Open for a record 33rd time, the Cardinals did not have an easy go of it, compiling 465.5 points to edge runnerup Pomperaug by six. New Canaan finished third with 415 points.

Three state records were broken during the meet, with two new State Open marks also being established.

Swimmers from Hartford County fared well, with a first-place showing in one event and 10 other top 10 placements.

Here are the individual event champions, as well as top 10 finishers from Hartford County schools.
